In December 2011 Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) became the provider for community based support to victims of domestic abuse in Leeds. LDVS is a consortium between HALT, Leeds Women’s Aid and Behind Closed Doors. Together, LDVS deliver a comprehensive support service for women and men who have suffered or are suffering domestic abuse in Leeds.
The services which LDVS offer are detailed below:
24 hour Helpline – this is operated during office hours by Leeds Women’s Aid and offers emotional support, information on LDVS or other services and information about the specialised ongoing support LDVS offers. Outside office hours, the helpline is covered by Stonham Homegroup.
IDVA support – delivered by HALT - focuses on providing legal advice and advocacy on a range of issues within the civil and criminal justice systems, as well as additional short term support for high risk victims. This can include advice on injunctions, children’s matter, and divorce, as well as support with the police or at court. IDVAs represent LDVS at MARACs, daily Hub meetings and Clare’s Law panels.
Outreach support – delivered by Behind Closed Doors - providing regular practical and emotional support on such issues as housing, benefits and budgeting, safety planning, health and social care and community engagement.
Resettlement support – delivered by Leeds Women’s Aid – offered to women in temporary or emergency accommodation to help with a move to independent living and permanent housing.
