A Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference, or MARAC, is a meeting of local agencies including the police, specialist domestic violence services, health agencies, housing, social care, and probation among others. The aim of the MARAC is to reduce the risk of serious harm and to increase the safety, health and well-being of victims of domestic abuse.
The role of the IDVA within the MARAC is to represent the voice of the victim as they do not attend the meeting. Since April 2016, all MARAC meetings have been incorporated into the daily Front Door Safeguarding Hub meeting.
The Front Door Safeguarding Hub has been operational since April 2015 and was established to improve the safety and support of victims of domestic abuse. At daily domestic violence meeting, high and medium risk incidents of domestic violence reported to the police are discussed between partner agencies to co-ordinate and implement support and safety interventions. Other agencies which attend the daily Hub meetings include the police, social care, health services, substance misuse services, probation and housing providers.
